Love, work, transformation Reviewed on March 15, 2022
This book is first a love story, but a love story set in the context of making the world a better place. The depth of the love between Rob and Des is beautifully shown. Equally inspiring is their commitment to each other throughout a long period of illness, and Desiree's commitment to continuing her work as a physician and teacher of physicians in spite of the challenges she is facing. Two people set out to love each other, and in doing so they transformed their part of the world. Truly inspirational.

Worth Chasing Reviewed on March 4, 2022
The chase for me, as depicted in the title, is the journey. It's the idea of full experience, full embodiment, full embracing of the current moment. This book is well worth the chase.
Through relatable storytelling, a beautiful blend of lightheartedness and profound sadness, and two lovable characters who can help you reinvent the way you see the world, this is one of those reads you'll never forget.

The love affair of Rob and Des reviewed on August 4, 2021
I had a great Radio show called Inspiring End of Life Conversations, that hit nearly 40,000 people. I had to let it go suddenly and most recently 2021, when I was diagnosed with an incurable disease that steals my endurance. With that being said, I love reading beautiful stories that lift me, make me want to try harder in this crazy world. Books that teach unconditional love, devotion and the journey of life where we all suffer from at one time or another some more than others. Chasing Life inspired me in this way. Not only is this book about 2 people who truly loved one another, it is about what they accomplished together, and what Rob helped Des achieve even on the hardest days. The wisdom that Des learned through her incredible medical knowledge and cancer is a message for all people especially physicians. I have worked in hospice nearly 25 years, and one thing I have always said is treat the person first! At one point in the book Des knew if she stayed in a hospital where they didn't "know" her she would die right then and there. This was such profound message, something all medical personnel should learn. Through Robs unlimited love and devotion she was able to accomplish what we all need learn before she left this earth and that is compassion and empathy not judgement or expectations. This life is a unique journey for all of us and needs to be honored. Life is truly a gift. God Bless her sweet and lovely soul. Thank you Rob for sharing her message with the world.

Living and Loving Fully Even When . . . Reviewed on September 26, 2021
Looking for a heartfelt, true story of enduring love even in the most extraordinary circumstances? This is it. Robert Pardi's love for his wife, Desiree, and his general outlook on life comes through each and every story and sentence depicted in Chasing Life.
Having been through a very similar process with my late husband, I can say unequivocally this book is worth the read as it will help you find your own best self no matter what your marital or life status. Well done, Mr. Pardi and thank you for sharing your story with the world.

Fantastic book: Compelling story of a love and advocacy Reviewed on September 23, 2021
I genuinely enjoyed this book. While I thought I was reading more about the brilliance of this young medical genius, what struck me more by the end, was how much I took away about self-advocacy. The book about Dr. Pardi's life really paralleled her actual life - while it was so much about the medical, it was more about the 'who' she was in her spirit and how she impacted the world of medicine by her experiences in both living and dying. The love story that accompanied it was just icing on the cake. I read the book on vacation, and it was such an easy read (in terms of how fast I got through it) and such a difficult read (in how much I teared up throughout it). I highly recommend it.

Mind blowing Reviewed on July 2, 2021
This is an extremely compelling first-person account of two young people falling in love and staying in love despite challenges that are difficult for the average person to imagine. So many aspects of this story and these individuals are deeply inspirational: their love for each other, their careers, their ability to live in the moment. On the surface, the story has a sad ending but the truth is anything but sad. One is left in awe of what they accomplished. I couldn’t put it down. Highly recommended.

Setting the bar for all of us Reviewed on July 10, 2021
Chasing Life is the extraordinary story of Robert Pardi’s journey with his wife Desiree as together they faced one of life’s greatest challenges. It is a story of great love but also commitment, determination, perseverance, grace, resilience and much more. This book is an inspiration that leaves the reader knowing that, no matter what the circumstances may be, it is always possible to find the joy in chasing life.

Chasing Life is the powerful story of a beautiful couple fighting metastatic breast cancer. Together. As a patient, I empathize with all they went through but their story is bigger than medical appointments. This book provided a glimpse of a way of life, a new perspective, a decision to do things differently. Not everyone faces what they faced, but everyone faces hardships, detours in life, and things they never saw coming. It is in those moments we must decide how we will cope and how we will move forward. It is through the telling of our stories we can share these things. This book accomplishes that and more. I highly recommend this book to anyone. Life changing possibilities.

Beautiful love story & life lessons Reviewed on August 14, 2021
What an amazing and beautiful story Robert tells. His love for his wife is so sweet and amazing really. But this book is much more than a love story, it also is about the importance of Palliative Care and how we need to show patients empathy at every turn. We have to respect that this is their journey not ours. Thank you Robert for sharing everything you learned with Des.

This is a terrific read about two people on a journey of life’s ups and downs and brings you into their relationship but the complexities of life as well. It really motivates the reader to think about what it means not just to be alive, but fully alive. Highly recommend!
